Description

Classic Car Addict is proud to present this 1929 Buick Model 44 Roadster for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. The Model 44 reportedly was purchased by the second owner in 1931, and it remained in their possession in Connecticut until the car was given to a family member in 1976. The next owner acquired the car in 2001, and our consignor purchased it in 2021. A total of 6,195 Model 44 examples were produced during the 1929 model year. Finished in yellow with black fenders and running boards, the car is powered by a 310ci straight-six mated to a three-speed manual transmission. Service under current ownership reportedly has included installing a six-volt battery, rebuilding the carburetor and the fuel pump, and cleaning the gas tank. The Model 44 roadster body sits upon a 121″ wheelbase, and this car was repainted in yellow with black fenders and running boards in the early 1960s, per the seller. Additional features include dual side-mount spare-tire carriers with locks, a rumble seat, a fold-down windshield, and green side trim. The chrome bumpers reportedly were replated in the 1970s. Our consignor had the upholstery redone with padding a few months ago. They finished the front bench seat in a brown faux Ostrich interior. The door panels were also replaced as well, and the top was completely redone to match the interior. The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a centered instrument panel with a 90-mph speedometer, a hydrostatic fuel gauge, and an ammeter, oil-pressure gauge, and water-temperature gauge. The five-digit odometer displays 90,266k miles, approximately 10k of which have been added by the previous owner over the past 20 years. Buick's valve-in-head inline-six received an increased displacement of 309.6 cubic inches for the 1929 model year, and it was rated to produce 90.5 horsepower when new. The carburetor and fuel pump reportedly have been rebuilt under current ownership, a six-volt battery was installed, and the fuel tank was cleaned. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. This will be sold on a clean Arizona title, with documentation of owners as well as a Buick reference booklet.
